The perspectives of Bel V is to continue to offer, in Belgium and abroad, to nuclear safety authorities or other Technical Safety Organizations, consultancy services, inspection support or training in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection.
At the international level, Bel V is a founding member of the ETSON network, collaborating with its peers to strengthen its technical and scientific expertise to consolidate the quality of its safety assessments and positions. In the same way, Bel V is actively contributing to several international working groups in organizations like WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators Association), IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), OECD-Nuclear Energy Agency. In that framework, Bel V is participating in working groups depending on the CSNI (Committee of the Safety of Nuclear Installations), the CNRA (Committee of the Nuclear Regulatory Activities) and the NSC (Nuclear Science Committee). Bel V is also supporting OSART (Operational Safety Review Team), ASSET (Assessment of Safety Significant Events Team) and IRRS (Integrated Regulatory Review Service) missions.
Since the 1990s, Bel V has participated and continue to participate in EU-funded cooperation projects supporting foreign safety authorities and develops its knowledge and expertise by being involved in European R&D projects (H2020).
More recently, in the approach of the Belgian phasing-out, Bel V has intensified its international development strategy by providing support to foreign safety authorities (FR, NL, NW, UK). Another line of development is to provide training to TSO experts from newcomers countries in nuclear energy.
